In the American art world is one among the "hidden treasures", “Ludwig Gebhard (1933-2007). Gebhard was born in 1933, in the upper Palatine Tiefenbach, he died in 2007 in Landsberg am Lech.

Gebhard, master student of Professor Geitlinger in Munich, was an artist who has absorbed the artistic trends of his time, transformed and merged into a new, his own, language. In addition to an extensive work of paintings, sculptures and jewellery design, Ludwig Gebhard is one of the leading printmakers of his time by his Linocuts count above all. His graphic works are characterized by strong, bright colours, consistency of colour composition, technical meticulousness and technical sovereignty.

The buying-in major museums such as Kunsthalle Basel, Kuperstichkabinett Dresden, Lenbachhaus, Munich, modern Pinakothek Munich, Albertina Vienna and others boast his work. His hometown Tiefenbach dedicated to him in his lifetime already in 2000 its own Ludwig Gebhard Museum.
