The subsequently sanctified Bishop Bernward von Hildesheim (960-1022) ordered for his Michaelis Church this chandelier at the Hildesheim bronze workshops, famous during the Othonian Age across Europe. The intertwined bodies of humans and animals symbolize the fight between good and evil.
