Norman Alden Cutler: Picture "Split Moon"

Black clouds are pushing through the crescent moon, so the moon seems to be cut in two... Cutler mirrors in mannerist Chiaroscuro - (light-dark) - painting the romantic natural phenomenon of the passing by moon in a modern Topos of eroticism.

Giclée on canvas, stretched on wedge frame. Format 60 x 80 cm. Limited edition, 299 exemplars, serially numbered and signed on the backside. Framed in model frame. Format 64 x 84 cm.

A certified German-American psychotherapist born in Stuttgart in 1960. His profound images remind the concrete figurative paintings of René Magritte. In fact, it is important for the artist to present the mystery of a picture not in a formally abstract way but contextually: „The complexity of the inner and outer reality does not need to be added to any formal or other complication. This distracts from the essentials. The moment of abstraction in my work lies in the thematic, in the summary of the essence, in the focus on the composition in which everything merges.“

Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler meaning "to squirt, spray".

Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format printout on an inkjet printer with special different coloured or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The colours are light-fast, that is, resistant to harmful UV light. They have a high richness of nuance, contrast and saturation.

The Giclée process is suitable for real art canvas, handmade and watercolor paper and for silk.
