Painting "Heyne Reading Hall in Göttingen", unframed

Libraries are the theme intensively approached by painter Hannes Möller since 2007. Famous collections, such as the Count August Library in Wolfenbüttel, the Library in St. Gallen and also the Bibliothèque Humaniste in the French town Sélestat were some inspiring stations on the way toward books.
By their collections, history, architecture and size, each library is unique. Besides, by special features, such as colors, light, odor, dust, each of them achieve a totally individual, typical, sometimes mysterious expression. This is what Hannes Möller details in this painting. He processes what is already there, without staging anything, looking for the individual face of the library.

This page was created after artist's stay in the historical Heyne Reading Hall of the University Library in Göttingen.
