Hassan Hashemi was born in Shahrkord, Iran, on November 12, 1955. He studied design from 1974 to 1975. He studied graphics in Teheran and Cologne from 1977 to 1988. In 1988, he studied with Bazon Brock at the University of Wuppertal. Professor Bazon Brock commented on Hassan Hashemi 's paintings: "His works are characterized by an incredible wealth of ideas, a dynamics that goes beyond the scope, and a color intensity that is very extraordinary: decors and wearers enter into a symbiosis, which captivates with its harmony.

Since 1984 he exhibits in Tehran, Wuppertal, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
