Ulrich Perathoner: Wood-Carved Saviour Nativity, Painted by Hand

The original Saviour Nativity was produced in the workshop of the Gardena sculptor Ulrich Perathoner. Each single element was curved and carefully handpainted in light oil paints by hand of the master. For production of these products the master chooses air-dryed maple tree wood. The woodcarvings appear in their high handicraft quality in a unique style and produce an incomparable effect. Each nativity is supplied with the certificate of origin.

12-part ensemble. The size of figures: 12 cm. Total height 24 cm. Width incl. base 30 cm, depth 20 cm.

A plastic work of sculptural art made of wood, stone, ivory, bronze or other metals.

While sculptures from wood, ivory or stone are made directly from the block of material, for bronze casting a working model is prepared at first. Usually it is made of clay or other easily shaped materials.

The prime time of sculpture after the Roman antiquity was the Renaissance. Impressionism gave a new impulse to the sculptural arts. Also the contemporary artists, such as Jorg Immendorf, Andora, and Markus Lupertz enriched the sculpture with outstanding works.
