Nissan Engel is a poet among the painters. His colours are synonymous with poetry and music, equipped with Visual power to move our feelings. His creative urge is elemental. He is a possessed man when a new masterpiece is taking shape. Just as he manages to visualize poetry and lyrics in this perfection in form and colour.

Nissan Engel was born in 1931 in Haifa, in the present-day Israel. After a long stay in New York he lived and worked in Paris. He died in November 2016.

Angel has developed as an artist now more than four decades. The diversity of cultures and experiences distinguishes him today as one of the most important international artists. He became famous due to his exhibitions in all over the world.

With its large colour symphonies he sets another milestone on the road all the way to the top. "Beethoven's symphonies have inspired me, to create new large-scale compositions that translate the lyrical character of music in colour and character." I wanted to paint music. I wanted to make pictures, in which the elements develop their own rhythm, their own form, flowing harmony".

" Nissan Engel pictures are more than just visual interpretation of music." They are results of equally intelligent as sensitive studies." (Daniel Barenboim).
