William Morris was an English textile designer, artist, writer and member of the Pre-Raphaelite group. Closely related to the English Arts-and-Crafts movement, he founded in 1861, together with his fellow artists Edward Burne-Jones und Dante Gabriel Rossetti, a company for furniture and interior decorations. He and his designers were especially focused on the revival of the traditional textile art.
