Short description
Ars Mundi exclusive edition | Limited, 199 exemplars | Serially numbered | Signed | Punched | bronze + Diabase | Hand-made | Polished | Patinated | Size 94 x 19 cm (H/W)| Weight 18 kg
Finke, graduate of the Graphic Arts Academy in Berlin and master student of Paul Dierke and Renée Sintenis, knew as no one else how to make visible the spirit that gives life to the outer shell; he grants drama and expressivity to his sculptures. The play of candlelight and of the fire in the fireplace gives a magical vividness to Finke´s creation: Does the shaman´s spirit return back from his flight over primeval territories? The flight of his soul in the transcendental world of spirits gives him the force to ban evil spirits or to make good spirits favorable to humans. By drumming and self-hypnosis, shamans get in ecstatic trance and send their subconscious to a magical sky journey. The religious roots of shamanism and the healing forces of the healer are documented up to Stone Age, at the root of humanity. Bird-like creature from another world, which opens our eyes to the depths of our souls and to an unknown past.
Limited world edition, 199 exemplars. ars mundi exclusive edition in fine bronze. Hand-cast using the lost wax technique, hand-polished and patinated, with artist´s and casting punch. Overall height 94 cm, Width 19 cm. Diabase base 20 x 15 x 20 cm (W/H/D). Weight 18 kg.
