The name of the Gothic Cathedral striving to the sky is derived from the Greek cathedra "God sitting". For the sculptor Rodin, the hands were paragon of the creative, godlike creativity. Without touching each other enclose to a hands dance equal to the space in which the idea, the godlike spark appears. With his study Rodin raises the fragment to the whole sculpture and anticipates with it long areas of the modern sculpture.
