Short description
ars mundi exclusive edition | limited, 199 exemplars | reproduction on canvas | wedge frame | framing | format 121.5 x 80.5 cm (H/W)
A famous unknown: Oskar Schlemmer
Oskar Schlemmer (1853-1943) was for a long time not comprehensively displayed and also scientific publications were difficult. The reason: Schlemmer's heirs of the second generation repeatedly took back items loaned to museums and even forbade reproductions This made a 'famous unknown" of the great Bauhaus artist. While individual works (such as these Bauhaus stairs) got iconic significance, another part of his works disappeared from the contemporary awareness. This changed only recently. The Stuttgarter Staatsgalerie dedicated to Schlemmer in 2014 a worldwide appreciated exhibition, whose catalogue could finally provide now - 70 years after his death - a comprehensive, richly illustrated presentation.
"The Dancer" High quality reproduction, applied manually on canvas and stretched on a wedge frame. The canvas texture highlights the painting effect. Framed with shadow gap strip. Limited edition, 199 exemplars. Format 121.5 x 80.5 cm (H/W). ars mundi exclusive edition.
