Mats Jonasson: Glass Object "Enora"

In the modern glass art tradition, skills and techniques are deeply connected. This refers to a famous master in this sphere, Mats Jonasson, whose works are produced in the Swedish glass factory Maleras. The way to a completed glass object is long. It lies through drawing a shape on plaster to forming an iron mold, which, after elaborate preparation, is applied for glass casting. The blank shape, produced in this way is sandblasted and polished. Finally, there appears a glass object, which turns into a unique masterpiece in the hands of Jonassons.

Jonasson is able to breathe life into his artworks that can be seen in this glass portrait of a woman. This highly individual implementation of women beauty is free from any stereotypes. Signed. Format 10 x 19 x 4 cm (W/H/D).

A plastic work of sculptural art made of wood, stone, ivory, bronze or other metals.

While sculptures from wood, ivory or stone are made directly from the block of material, for bronze casting a working model is prepared at first. Usually it is made of clay or other easily shaped materials.

The prime time of sculpture after the Roman antiquity was the Renaissance. Impressionism gave a new impulse to the sculptural arts. Also the contemporary artists, such as Jorg Immendorf, Andora, and Markus Lupertz enriched the sculpture with outstanding works.
