Illustrated book "economic miracle" - Collector's Edition with signed colour photograph

Germany after the war 1952-1967. Just eight years after the capitulation of Nazi Germany , the photographer Josef Heinrich Darchinger began his photographic journey through the West of a divided Germany. The bombs of World War II had transformed the country's major cities to rubble deserts. Sign of the downfall of a civilization can be found in his paintings but barely. Here the photographer has embezzled anything. It merely documented what he saw. During this time, a New York travel agency advertised with the last opportunity to see the few remaining ruins. In colour and black and white throw Darchinger pictures to look at a country in a fever of reconstruction. So rapidly was the economic boom that the world spoke of the "economic miracle". In contrast, the people who accomplished it act, sober, modest, conscientious, and diligent. But increasingly like strangers in the world that they created. The photographs show a country in conflict between technical progress and cultural restoration, between affluence and penury, between "German Gemutlichkeit" and the constant threat of the Cold War. They show the winners and losers of the "economic miracle", people of all social classes, private, at work, in the meager Size:d leisure and consumption. But they also show a country that looks like a movie from the middle of last century appear in retrospect. approx. his colour photographs wrote the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, they were "rare historical documents that show how fast the daily grind again returned colour."
