Norman Alden Cutler: Painting "Geteilter Mond"

Black clouds push their way through the crescent moon, making the moon seem to split into two parts. In manneristic chiaroscuro - (light and dark) - painting, Cutler reflects the romantic natural event of the moon passing at night in a modern erotic topos.

Giclée on canvas, stretched over stretcher frames. Format 60 x 80 cm. Limited edition of 299 copies, signed and numbered on the reverse side.

A certified German-American psychotherapist born in Stuttgart in 1960. His profound images remind the concrete figurative paintings of René Magritte. In fact, it is important for the artist to present the mystery of a picture not in a formally abstract way but contextually: „The complexity of the inner and outer reality does not need to be added to any formal or other complication. This distracts from the essentials. The moment of abstraction in my work lies in the thematic, in the summary of the essence, in the focus on the composition in which everything merges.“

Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler meaning "to squirt, spray".

Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format printout on an inkjet printer with special different coloured or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The colours are light-fast, that is, resistant to harmful UV light. They have a high richness of nuance, contrast and saturation.

The Giclée process is suitable for real art canvas, handmade and watercolor paper and for silk.
