The Spanish artist Eduardo Arroyo, born in 1937, is considered to be the most important representative of the engaged realism. When he was 21 year old, he immigrated to Paris.

In opposition to the dominant abstract art he preferred objective narrative presentation. His work characterized by figuration tell humorous stories about money, dance, philosophers and women. The transformation of the everyday life in the artistic world, the strong situation pictures are the insinuation of independent and unconventional way of representation characterize the works of artists. Arroyo managed to bind the eye-catching sensual representation technique with subtle artistry.

He began to create sculptures very early. Arroyo binds ready-made familiar objects, such as roof tiles or pieces of iron and connects them in a new and unusual way.

Arroyo who also is an author of a book about the boxer Al Brown, and as the book author and artist took part in its publishing, he received the Great National prize for painting in Spain in 1983.

Numerous exhibitions, for example in the Pompidou Center in Paris and in Guggenheim Museum in New York, made the artist famous.

When casting bronze, artist usually applies the lost-wax technique which is dating back more than 5000 years. It's the best, but also the most complex method of producing sculptures.

First, the artist forms a model of his sculpture. It is embedded in a liquid silicone rubber composition. Once the material has solidified, the model is cut out. The liquid wax is poured in the negative mould. After cooling down, the wax casting is removed from the mould, provided with sprues and dipped into ceramic mass. The ceramic mass is hardened in a kiln, and the wax flows out (lost mould).

For lower-grade bronze castings, the sand casting method is often used which, however, does not achieve the results of more complex lost wax technique in terms of surface characteristics and quality.
