Prof. Hermann-Josef Kuhna was born in 1944 in Weissensee-Ottenhausen. He graduated from the Art Academy in Dusseldorf and has been teaching since 1979 as a professor at the Art Academy Munster.

Kuhna deals with the effect of colour and lets his pictures from countless splashes of colour emerge. The experts referred Kuhnas works as "confetti-art with depth". For this purpose, writes the art historian André Ohren "... what seems at first glance as a provocation, but has method calls the viewer of his paintings a 'thorough look'. The artist calls his art late romantic and insured, to paint concrete and figuratively. "
