The British artist David Spiller (1942-2018) studied painting at the prestigious London Slade School. Besides his teacher Frank Auerbach, Spiller named Pablo Picasso and Jean Dubuffet as influencing artists. Nevertheless, he clearly refered to the pop art with his motifs, bold colors and clear contours in combination with text snippets. Spiller borrowed the lyrics for his playful, joyful works from his favorite songs and thus added a personal level to the popular motifs.

His works are often exhibited alongside those of Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg and Jim Dine - great appreciation potential!
