Gerard Richter is an excited photograph, who makes new edtion from his landscape paintings. His "Canarian Landscapes" base on the photographs, which he created in 1969. The tender lines, which make a frame to every painting, give every sheet the decorative character and in contrast to the painting motives, expresses the depth of the surface.
For Richter the choice of the motive is the frist step to the art: "I try not to find the easily tanginble (...). It is a kinf of a flight."
Original color heliogravure, 1971, from a portfolio of 6 sheets, edition of 100 copies on light handmade paper, numbered and singed by hand. Catalog raisonne Butin 39d. Motif size 15 x 22 cm. Sheet size 39.5 x 50 cm. Format in the frame 44 x 53 cm as illustrated.
