The most popular painting of Jan Vermeer is the portrait of the "Girls with A Pearl Earring" created in 1665. The fame is evoked by the modern aura of the painting: the girl is portrayed in close proximity, without narrative attributes and interacts with viewers looking directly in their eyes with a slightly opened mouth. The clothing of the girl was painted with the rough clear colors. Especially bright is the pearl in the ear of the girl, which repeats the shining of her eyes. By now it is unknown who the portrayed girl is. Possibly it was Magd Griet, described in the novel by Tracy Chevaliers, which was filmed in 2003 by the director Peter Webber and nominated for three Oscars.

Jan Vermeer is one of the most important Dutch painters of the Baroque period. The data in the life of the Dutch painter of genre based on the baptism at 31.10.1632 in Delft and his local burial at the 15.12.1675. In painting, characteristic features of the Baroque, are manifested in the altar and ceiling painting, history and portrait.

The area of the sculpture is typically represented by such artists as Anthony van Dyck, Peter Paul Rubens, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and others.
