Short description
Brass | Antique green patinated | Format 24 x 14 x 12 cm
The Iliad tells about the Trojan War. However, its actual theme is about "Achilles’ Rage". Achilles started war only after long hesitation, scared the Trojans and killed – mainly as personal revenge – the Trojan giant Hector. A controversial hero, Achilles’ friend and enemy is deemed however as the greatest warrior of his time. "Achilles in War Chariot" is a representation of a contemporary Greek artist, using the sculptural language of archaic art. Horses and wheels are mobile, metallic chains represent bridle and Achilles’ weapon, a spear, is sharpened at both ends. Therefore, this sculpture has to be kept away from children. Antique green brass, patinated. Format: 24 x 14 x 12 cm.
