Born in 1963, Austrian sculptor
Portrait of the sculptor Margot Stöckl. Margot Stöckl comes from Zillertal and started to like the fine arts in her early childhood. Consequently, she attended the Higher Technical School of Arts and Crafts in Innsbruck, but it would take years until she could devote all her energy to the art.
Stöckl works in wood, clay, stone and metal. She became famous thanks to a growing series of works entitled "Brainwork". It shows character heads, in which the artist represents expressive portraits of the ideal type personifications ("The Maker", "The Knower", "The Indomitable") or representatives of different cultures ("The Iroquois", "The Aztec"), following the tradition of her compatriot Franz Xaver Messerschmitt (1736-1783).
