Joachim Röderer, born in Tuttlingen / Baden, studied art from 1981 to 1989 in Cologne and Madison / USA from Fred Meister and Paulette Werger. Since 1990 he has worked as a freelance artist. Joachim Röderer is metal sculptor. His preferred material is Corten steel, which is particularly resistant to weather influence and corrosion.
The artist deals with signs and symbols, representing forms that could be taken only from the molecular biology. Typical for that are the x-shaped forms of the X-chromosomes, which are based on the fact that two sister chromosomes are connected during the division. After the visible only under a microscope molecular shapes Röderer developed steel sculptures in millions magnification. But also he used other motifs for his creations. One of the arts experts describes the works of Röderer: “Joachim Röderer constantly works on the plastics, which brings unusual perspectives on what is supposedly known and makes it materially visible. In the example of the chromosomes it is a colossal magnification and objectification from mysterious formations, which are not visible and therefore available in the normal world.
