Peder Mork Mönsted
The Danish landscape painter Peder Mork Moensted traveled through Europe and created a large amount of works from his various impressions from nature observation. When he returned home, back to his Scandinavian home, he painted the mostly deserted, pristine river and forest landscapes. Moensted was clearly influenced by Impressionism and his works can hardly be classified as the academic landscape painting of the time.
The Scandinavian genre experiences a Renaissance at the end of the last century, thanks to what Moensted was discovered again. Among other things his works were presented in 1995 in the exhibition "Light of the North" in Frankfurt and Stockholm. His works are collected worldwide, with preference in the English-speaking world with its great tradition of atmospheric landscapes.
Moensted liked to observe water areas, the reflections of their environment. He floated the boat and painted closely from the water to have a completely unobstructed view.
