Robert Mangold
Born in 1937
After studying art, Robert Mangold worked as a supervisor at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in the 1960s. Today, the museum houses numerous works by the artist, who has long been one of the most renowned painters of the American minimalism.
He initially painted in the style of abstract expressionism, but the formal austerity of Piet Mondrian, inspired him to go minimalist paths. He explores the relationships between form, line and color with calculus and precision. Nevertheless, his works strike with a playful easr.
