Alex Katz
Born in New York in 1927 Alex Katz was the shooting star on the renowned Basel art fair in 2004. His works, in Europe scarce and sought after, were, inter alia, in the Saatchi Collection, London, the Museum of Modern Art, New York and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt.
"Katz does not paint, Katz recalls .... Katz 'images are so precise and so vague as memory itself ... and as the memory, so this art loves the moment ...", in 2009 the New York painter whose works deal with figure and face and move between modern Realism and Pop Art was in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit.
In a small town in Maine, where he has a studio, he portrayed for decades, the same people and landscapes that surround it.
