Haegue Yang
Haegue Yang, born in 1971 in Seoul, explores the primary coordinates of artistic existence and human autonomy in her work. Perceptions of heat, moisture, smell, wind, and light are, according to Yang's assumptions, as physical and sociologically determined as our self-awareness.
Her expressiveness draws her from the strong emphasis on spaces, the hidden, the silence. She often works with low-value items such as fans, light bulbs, bookshelves, blinds, or origami paper.
Haegue Yang participated in the group exhibition "Made in Germany" in 2007 and represented South Korea at the Venice Biennale in 2009.
