Walter Leistikow
Devoted to symbolism and Art Nouveau Walter Leistikow (1865-1908) devoted to the former imperial capital Berlin as a "Painter of the Margraviate of Brandenburg" Lakes and wooded nature all around.
The German painter and graphic artist, was one of the founding members of the artists group "The XI" and campaigned for the founding of the Berlin secession in 1898. After a period of the ornamental stylization and detachment of a natural colour scheme he found back probably in the late 1890s, under the influence of the Impressionist Max Liebermann to his naturalistic style of painting.
