The Italian Rembrandt Bugatti (1884-1916) was one of the most outstanding sculptors of the early 20th century. He was exceptionally talented. Having just started study in the Art School, he at the age of only 16 years, exhibited his first sculpture at the Spring exhibition in Milan. His name became known throughout Europe. The brother of the famous automobile designer Ettore Bugatti created about 300 sculptures in his short life. Quite Rembrandt Bugatti had chosen animals as central motifs in his paintings. Initially he portrayed only native animals, but soon he became one of the first artist in the history of European art to present exotic animalsas the subject of his sculpture. Bugatti had developed an extraordinary ability to capture the brightest moments his motifs.
