Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) studied with Henri Matisse and Georges Rouault at ʺÉcole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts” in Paris. Together with them, he founded the artist group ʺFauves”, whose works are distinguished by pure, strong colors as main means of design. Dufy remained faithful to painting, however he dedicated himself also to the design of murals, tapestries, fabric, ceramics and stage design.
For the Parisian world exhibition in 1937, Dufy created the 600 sq.m wall painting ʺElectricity” – his most significant work.
