Johann Robert Korn
(1873-1921)
Barely 17 years old, came in 1890, born in Thuringia Bad Salzungen-Johann Robert Korn to Berlin. He was already a trained sculptor; in Berlin he continued his studies, first at the School of Applied Arts (1890-1893), then at the Academy of Fine Arts (1894- 1895).
His great talent was recognized early, already at the turn of the century he was represented at major exhibitions. Berlin remained his artistic focus. Nearly a quarter of a century - from 1897 to 1920 - he exhibited regularly at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, and here is his award-winning work can still be found in the public domain today (and known to many who perhaps never heard his name): The Adler figures at Hohenzollernplatz Metro Station (1913), and various representations of animals in the zoo (about the Rehgruppe at antelope house of 1910) come from his studio. However, that grain knew to shine even in the small sculpture, showing his chimpanzee - an early work from the year 1896.
