Hans am Ende
In 1889, the "Artists Worpswede" was founded by Hans am Ende, Fritz Mackensen, Otto Modersohn, Fritz Overbeck, Heinrich Vogeler and Carl Vinnen. The participation in the exhibition of the Munich artist cooperative in 1895 brought awards and thus the artistic breakthrough of the small group.
Hans is born on the 31.12.1864 in Trier, he became a student at the end of 1884 to 89 with a two-year break at the Munich Academy. The personal acquaintance with Fritz Mackensen, who had discovered the unknown village in the Devil's Moor North of Bremen by accident-induced end to settle down in 1889 permanently in Worpswede.
At the end, Hans has mainly on the subject brightly coloured pictures of the bog area . Here, he was away from the academic art world and found an immediately compelling nature experience. He captured in his pictures the harsh landscape of beautiful delicate nature.
The Swiss mountains - where he spent the last years of his life - becomes the motivic core of his late work. He died in 1918.
