Thomas Schöne: Sculpture ‘Gates of Heaven’

The sculpture of the 1961 born Thomas Schöne describes in a sensitive way the greatest mystery of our existence. ‘The heavenly gate opens when the Earth gate is closed. Reanimated people often tell how they had to go through a tunnel and that they could see a bright light at the end. Previously they climb the ladder to the heaven to get the question in front of the gate: 'Have you lived your life meaningful?' What happens after that no one knows ... Striding through the gate triggers the renewal of the soul. This work illustrates the path that we have to take when our time has come: on the ladder to the heaven, through the tunnel into other levels.’

Partially patinated and partially gold-plated polymeric art casting with the bronzed surface in the corpus of stone. Cast by hand. Limited edition of 199 copies, signed, numbered and marked with the foundry stamp. Format 23 x 33 x 15 cm.
