The art of the Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918) has two sides: One the graphic, to Art Nouveau and then the one of peace and power radiating vistas. Hodler feels like so many European artists of the millennium, the symbolism, the romantic contemporary art connected.

Evocative representations of interiors, of individual and group portraits and imaging a two-dimensional, symbolic nature are Hodler's trademark. The latter served just the landscapes rich Switzerland to honour the most important artist he is. After initial successes and great recognition in Paris and Vienna Hodler was also known in Germany, where he received commissions for large murals, as in Hannover and Jena.

Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler meaning "to squirt, spray".

Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format printout on an inkjet printer with special different coloured or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The colours are light-fast, that is, resistant to harmful UV light. They have a high richness of nuance, contrast and saturation.

The Giclée process is suitable for real art canvas, handmade and watercolor paper and for silk.
