Richard Lindner, born 1901-1978 in Hamburg and grew up in Nuremberg, immigrated to Paris in 1933 and eight years later to New York. Only shortly before his 50th birthday he began to paint.

After a short time he made the leap into the Mecca of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and New York! His painting took Pop Art anticipate. He painted already figured, was announced as an abstraction. With the beginning of the Pop Art era his shrill metropolitan Icons gained worldwide attention.
